Monday Maxim – Aesop Rock “Save Yourself” http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/06/monday-maxim-aesop-rock-save-yourself/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=monday-maxim-aesop-rock-save-yourself http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/06/monday-maxim-aesop-rock-save-yourself/#comments Mon, 25 Jun 2012 14:18:07 +0000 http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=1041 Today’s lesson is from Aesop Rock track “Save Yourself”

What are you saving, honestly? (honestly, honestly)
What are you saving, honestly? (honestly, no honestly)
What are you saving, honestly? (damn)
Promise me you gonna shut the fuck up and recognize
What you holdin' ain't really broken?

Aesop lets you know that despite the fact that you are trying to save something wether it be rap, freedom or the “American way” you should take a step back and realize that first it might not be broken and secondly you might need more saving than your ideal.

Record Store Day This Saturday- Support! http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/04/record-store-day-this-saturday-support/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=record-store-day-this-saturday-support http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/04/record-store-day-this-saturday-support/#comments Sat, 21 Apr 2012 02:56:16 +0000 https://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=269

Mp3′s and Amazon.com and iTunes etc., etc. are all fine and good BUT today is special. Get out from behind your computer and go support your local brick & mortar record store. Keep them alive. A little human to human contact isn’t always so bad.

Find your local participating store, RecordStoreDay.com.

Some special releases only available at stores—

Afrika Bambaata & MC5, Animal Collective, Atmosphere and The Uncluded (Aesop Rock and Kimya Dawson), Childish Gambino, Deerhoof, JEFF the Brotherhood, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Mastodon/Feist, Shabazz Palaces, Sigur Ros, The Flaming Lips, The Pharcyde, Xiu Xiu/Dirty Beaches, DJ Food, ESG, Gorillaz, Peter Tosh, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed.
