Bonus: for hip-hop

The Blackhawks have some class.

A letter that that is also probably relevant today

R.I.P. Biggie http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/12/r-i-p-biggie/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=r-i-p-biggie http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/12/r-i-p-biggie/#comments Sat, 08 Dec 2012 02:48:34 +0000 http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=2450 You cannot make a list of the greatest rappers of all time without mentioning The Notorious B.I.G. As we all know Biggie was murdered in L.A. and the case has not been closed. Today the autopsy was released. What is more frustrating is that officers close to the case have said that the case has long been solved but the perpetrators have not been brought to justice.

BaoHaus X Sophia Chang Art Collabo http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/10/baohaus-x-sophia-chang-art-collabo/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=baohaus-x-sophia-chang-art-collabo http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/10/baohaus-x-sophia-chang-art-collabo/#comments Fri, 05 Oct 2012 16:41:46 +0000 http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=1702 Atmosphere and an appeal to the senses are everything next to taste when it comes to a restaurant and BaoHaus has got it on lock (yes this also applies to dingy hole in the walls, you know that adds to the experience). Not only does their in house playlist consist of classic hip hop from the 80′s to the naughts (classic doesn’t gotta mean old) which they post online but they also take care of your sense of sight while taking care of your sense of taste.

Enter their art collabo with Sophia Chang. She tackles the Bun Bao experience with a perfect combination of cute and hardcore, taking the bun and spittin out  a hip hop pun. I’ll let her work speak for itself…with assistance by the lyrics of Action Bronson, Tribe Called Quest, Camron, Juelz Santana, and more.

“Our families came on boats, but now we on a space ship, fuck with us.”

Then there’s the Alchemist, Piano Overlord (Prefuse 73), Com Truise, and on and on…

Where’s the new album?!?! “Escape Earth” is an ethereal jam and a super dope video to go with it.

NinjaSonik- New EP http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/04/ninjasonik-new-ep/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ninjasonik-new-ep http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/04/ninjasonik-new-ep/#comments Fri, 13 Apr 2012 16:31:11 +0000 https://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=192

Common Folk brethren NinjaSonik just recently dropped a new EP, No Swords or Masks, on Decon records-

“Reverend McFly and Telli Gramz turn a keen ear to this record, incorporating production from David Sisko, Soundwaave, and Plain Pat among others. Lyrically, the duo has never been sharper- though subject matter primarily touches on women, partying, and partying with women- proficient wordplay and cadence align them with the best hip-hop spitters. Verses from Mr. Starcity, Ifsonive, Daniel Merriweather, Shyvonne & Johnny on The Rocks (of Rocky Business) seal the deal.”

It’s always good to see friends progress and have good things happen. Oh, and if you don’t know, GO SEE THESE CAVE MAN SAVS LIVE.
