Lent – You Aren’t Doing it Right http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2013/02/lent-you-arent-doing-it-right/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=lent-you-arent-doing-it-right http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2013/02/lent-you-arent-doing-it-right/#comments Wed, 13 Feb 2013 19:57:36 +0000 http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=2988 So one of the downsides of Mardi Gras is that people start to discuss what they are giving up for Lent. This picture from the Willy Wonka meme I think sums it up pretty well.
Instead of focusing on 40 days which barely covers 10% of the year, one should instead look to the philosophy of Guy Kawasaki and strive to be a Mensch

  • Help people who cannot help you.
  • Help without the expectation of return.
  • Help many people.
  • Do the right thing the right way.
  • Pay back society.

When Did You Find Out? http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/12/when-did-you-find-out/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=when-did-you-find-out http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/12/when-did-you-find-out/#comments Mon, 24 Dec 2012 16:53:46 +0000 http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=2541 One question often asked near the end of the of the year is “When did you discover Santa Claus wasn’t real?”

At Common Folk Collective we do things differently so in the comments let us know:

When did you discover God wasn’t real?

You Keep Using that Word. I Do Not Think It Means What You Think it Means. http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/03/you-keep-using-that-word-i-do-not-think-it-means-what-you-think-it-means/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=you-keep-using-that-word-i-do-not-think-it-means-what-you-think-it-means http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/03/you-keep-using-that-word-i-do-not-think-it-means-what-you-think-it-means/#comments Tue, 13 Mar 2012 16:47:48 +0000 https://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=21 Everybody’s lovable favorite town idiot was recent quoted saying “The dangers of carbon dioxide? Tell that to a plant, how dangerous carbon dioxide is.”
He also referred to global warming as a liberal myth. Poor Rick despite his Penn State education doesn’t know the difference between carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. He also doesn’t have a solid grasp of what a myth is either. A myth isn’t supported by scientific data. On the other he has dedicated a lot of time and effort to one very popular myth, Christianity.
