I can’t imagine I’m the only person who searches this way.
Search Results
Often times when working through my problem I realize that I’d like to return to one of the tabs that I dismissed earlier. I would do so by finding it in my history by looking for the page title. Unfortunately Google has broken the page title in your history and now I just see a bunch of redirects.
History

This should be a list of page titles but is instead a list of redirects.

Fortunately Bing doesn’t exhibit this strange behavior and may soon be my search engine of choice.
Bing gets it right.

Bing gets it right.

Update: My former co-worker pointed out that the Safari plugin Detox will restore things to normal.

I Just Don’t Get It http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/07/i-just-dont-get-it/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=i-just-dont-get-it http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/07/i-just-dont-get-it/#comments Tue, 10 Jul 2012 02:13:37 +0000 http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=1107 I surf the web a lot. I’ve got pretty advanced Google search skills. I run OnDan service where people who have my phone number will call and ask me questions since I’m almost always within reach of a computer. One thing I just won’t understand is how some people search. The case in point is this:
Search this site or the web

Search this site or the web

Who is on a website searching for information and then decides, I’ll search the web from this site rather than in the search bar or just go to Google?

We Left This Side Blank So You Could Help http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/05/we-left-this-side-blank-so-you-could-help/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=we-left-this-side-blank-so-you-could-help http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/2012/05/we-left-this-side-blank-so-you-could-help/#comments Thu, 31 May 2012 15:09:18 +0000 http://commonfolkcollective.com/blog/?p=916 The RIAA recently claimed that despite processing nearly 50,000 requests in the last month for removing links from their search index, which by the way are often bogus, that Google isn’t doing enough.

I think Google should for one month fuck with the RIAA and take the heavy handed, shoot first ask questions later approach the RIAA endorses. Give Google a list of your artists, song and album titles and Google will remove them from all searches, including the ones to the artist’s site, Amazon, Google Play, Wikipedia, references to concerts and TV appearances.

After one month of not selling shit let’s see if the you’ll bite the hand that feeds you again.
