This week’s Hip Hop releases are just straight solid, good for you, treatises of boom bap. Big K.R.I.T. seemed a little stale/redundant for a little while but he’s back. Kev Brown is one of the best in the game. There’s The 1978ers from the Mello Music Group camp, killin it. Serengetti pops off some more oddball joints. Then there’s Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic back at it again with another Hail Mary Mallon installment. C’mon.
Two other definite highlights of the week are 18+ and Scarub. Scarub is part of the Living Legends crew and steps up with some real refreshing, new styles. I know nothing of 18+ and never heard of them before but I am definitely digging the off kilter, hip hop, electronic vibes getting sent out by this male/female duo (that overrides the cliche norm that’s come to be expected by such a line up). Do yourself a favor and check out the dopeness of all this week’s releases. Booooowm.
