Tuesday Forecast (Late Edition, Again)

So occasionally one knows it’s tuesday but doesn’t know it’s tuesday. I’m late, again. I blame it on being so excited that I was able to obtain (completely legit) a copy of Chop’s Illuminate on vinyl in advance that when the actual tuesday release date rolled around I wasn’t ready for it. I’m also pretty intrigued to hear what sort of electrofuturespacehiphop beats Ras G has to offer up on Back on the Planet (on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label). And if you were/are an indy hip hop fan then you know Rawkus Killer Cuts is gonna be a great trip down memory lane. Also, throwing in a DVD this week Charles Bradley: Soul of America “charts the extraordinary late-in-life rise of 62-year-old aspiring soul singer…whose debut album famously rocketed the James Brown impersonator from a hard life in the Brooklyn projects to Rolling Stone magazine’s top 50 albums of 2011. This award-winning documentary explores Charles’ remarkable journey through abandonment, homelessness and tragedy to critically acclaimed recordings with the masters of modern soul Daptone and Dunham Records.”

Tuesday Forecast

Some deep, dark off center rhymes from Ka, I haven’t checked him out before this but The Night’s Gambit is coming off pretty ill. Castle also brings some pretty straighforward hip hop with the Gasface. Also this week throwing in some instrumental hip hop/electronic and some out-there, chilled out, atmospheric, funk, electronic ish with Express Rising.

Tuesday Forecast

Pretty decent week on the electro/electronic/electronica side of things. I’m still waiting for the Stevie Wonder song he told Diane Sawyer he’s going to write that’ll unite all humanity. “Studied [his] lessons, got vision 20/20.”

New Swampy Print- Owl of Yawn

For all of those intrigued by the mysterious myth of photographer/artist Swamp Donkey who disappears and reappears via riding freights to every corner of the nation (and Mexico as well), He’s just dropped a brand spanking new print to help rustle up some greenbacks for his next big, secret project. And if you’ve never personally espied a Swampy doodle in some dark corner or train yard then you’re not living right and walking on the fringes. Hit up PaperMonster for the print before they go poof.

Mixed bag this week. Being across the board there’s probably some you’ll like, some you won’t. Boom.

Tuesday Forecast

Well, two of the biggest “independent” rappers this week are so big they are both in the Sunday ads for Best Buy and Target. Haha. There’s also the ultimate hit or miss Kool Keith. I just don’t know. This goes for the new Oh No as well, he was given free reign of Dolemite samples but not sure if that’s for better or worse…It’ll also be good to hear how the japanese/brazilian producer Curumin has evolved since his last release.
