Tuesday Forecast

This week is a bit rag-tag genre-wise as well as new and tried & true. Brother Ali is back and already causing ‘controversy’ over praying on the american flag. Gasp! Sigh. But it’s always a great day when there’s new stuff from all time fav Kid Koala! I’ve also been waiting for the Homeboy Sandman release, even copped the Homeboy hat in the Knicks colorway. There’s also a Tribute to Repo Man. I can’t vouch for the tribute but I will say the original soundtrack is ridiculously classic.

Skateistan

Foreign Policy magazine, yes we at the Common Folk Collective have a diverse reading list, has a post on Skateistan and the burgeoning skateboard movement in Afghanistan. It’s great to see kids in such a wartorn country just being kids and having fun. Skate on!

Tuesday Forecast

I’m excited for this weeks releases, excited to hear David Byrne and St. Vincent, the new The XX, and the new Thavius Beck. Maybe they’re thinking we’ll all be depressed thinking about the anniversary of 9/11 and figuring we all only live once so let’s buy a bunch of new music. Done.
