The Narrative

Have we ever had a president who understands the infrastructure of narrative like this?

Growing up during Reagan meant — for a lot of little kids — hearing their parents disparage the government almost every night. Whether it was that “Reagan was a fascist” or that Reagan was saving us from a fascist system, both Republicans and Democrats wallowed in an abstract world of governmental hate. What are little kids hearing now at the kitchen table? Obama seems to have an inkling here that his greatest achievement might be in changing the narrative for the generations to come.
