Police use of “non-lethal weapon” kills teenaged artist

Various outlets ranging from the Miami Herald to the BBC are reporting on how police in Miami Beach chased, surrounded, tased, and ultimately killed an 18-year-old graffiti artist, Israel Hernández-Llach, known as “Reefa”. Some of his work can be seen on Flickr, including in the South Florida graffiti pool.

This Makes No Sense

Can someone who has a connection at Travelocity or Ebay explain how it could possibly take 5 to 10 days to remove someone from an email list? I cannot imagine a technical reason.

I can get a car rental in seconds but to get off an email list takes at least 5 days.

Ebay apparently also has an a very dated system.

Humpday Helper: Edgar The Beatmaker (King Krule)

King Krule is a very young, very talented cat coming out of the UK. He’s got a new album coming out pretty soon so I figured a taste of his side project that ventures into lo-fi, left-field hip hop would be in order. Yea. Enjoy the Darkest Shades of Blue.

Tuesday Forecast

Canadian rapper Madchild (Swollen Members) is solid but might not strike everyone’s fancy. Moderat is an electronic “supergroup” comprising Modeselektor and Apparat. Kon (of the elite beat digging duo Kon & Amir) brings some original neo-disco, future soul, house type music. Don’t know much about Raffertie but comes off as pretty minimalistic, electronic soul somewhat à la James Blake. Slew brings some pretty tight Blues/Rock stylings by way of a scratch dj, reminiscent of Mr. Dibbs. The Tru Thoughts label from across the pond rounds things out with another good comp of modern soul and r&b complete with some remixes. Done. And done.

Amazon Now Sells Fine Art

I discovered today that Amazon sells fine art. Though I don’t see how one can get their own art listed, my guess is that you’ll have to go through a gallery, which makes sense so that the market doesn’t get inundated with spam.
