Wax Poetics presents a remix project for free download of one of my more favorite new bands, Hiatus Kaiyote, coming out of Melbourne. I like. And this project produces some pretty interesting takes on their “future soul” sound. Geeeet it, mayng.
Lotus is a diverse live band featuring synths, horns, strings and they’ve teamed up with a host of rappers for an anticipated collaboration project. And it’s free. FREE, people (well, you can name your price from 0-trillion).

Joey Bada$$ is a rapper and an emcee, the kind you wanna chill with and be friends with. And he just dropped a free mixtape, Summer Knights, to bump for those summer days (along with Acid Rap). This joint is just real, not mind numbingly thugged out and not overly intellectualized but still deep and laced with some gems, everyday observations become poignant pieces of art. Not only does this kid got something to say but he’s got a dope and innovative way of saying it as well.
Where’s the new hip hop? Leave it to MelloMusicGroup. They’re doing a free early release of Quelle Chris’s new album Niggas Is Men, “the idea is to jump-start the new project and let people start spreading the word about the project & Quelle Chris.” But after Friday you’ll have to pay cash money for it, don’t get caught sleepin. The project also features some CFC favorites Fresh Daily and Tanya Morgan.
