Tuesday Forecast

Little Dragon, yes. Tobacco, yes. Blitz the Ambassador lives up to his name, being one of the best Ghanian rappers you never heard of. Coalmine Records also releases a compilation of some the best underground emcees out there right now. Stones Throw also hits us off with the soundtrack for the soon to be released dvd Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton. And never forget the Legendary Lee Scratch Perry, who drops a double. Boom.

People Under The Stairs. Yes. Always classic, always consistent. Speaking of, Atmosphere, I feel like people hating on this album are just mad hip hop can be grown up and that Slug drops grown man raps. He’s not 20 and heartbroken, get over it. Moodie Black’s Nausea will probably also get complaint it’s not boom bap enough. For those peeps, check out Vanderslice instead. Brazilian Bass and Chinese Man’s Groove sessions are for the party as well.

Carrying on, Badbadnotgood’s III is some chill ass hip hop, jazz, lounge. Throw that in with the new Lykke Li and another Brian Eno project. If you don’t find something you like this week then I am sad for you. Real sad. Boom.

Tuesday Forecast

Yea. Tuesday Forecast been missing for a minute. Next subject (head lowered in shame).

No cover for Blueprint’s new download? Janky. But there’s new Wye Oak and Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur), yea a couple of artists I didn’t think would be so good until I got schooled. I also hesitated with the Styles P release, I was hoping to get something more than what I expected but pretty much sticks to his safe territory of busting caps and repping his hood harder than you. Oh well. To balance it out with a before unheard of future underground emcee Fel Sweetenberg. Rapper Big Pooh (Little Brother) and Roc C kind of bridge the gap between the two with their gutter indie rap.

And of course, gotta round out the forecast with some chill jazz, beats, and ethereal instrumentation. Fresh for 2014…suckaz. Peace.

Tuesday Forecast (04.01.14)

Well alright, the formatting is still janky but alas I carry on. Cunninlynguists finally drop another one and I assure you they are as dope as their name is cheesy, don’t let it fool you. Kev Brown sprinkles us with some more production on Pillars with emcee MindsOne, I don’t know anything about him but I sure do love me some Kev Brown. Oh yea, and a new one from Mobb Deep. And yes I kind of add that as an afterthought cuz I don’t even know if I want to hear it BUT it comes with a bunch of bonus joints from their The Infamous sessions so that might actually be worth it.

I’m also intrigued to hear what Thievery Corporation, Architecture in Helsinki, and HTRK have cooked up for us. Heeeeere we go…
