Mos Def to Perform All New Material in a Live Webcast Today!

The artist-formerly-known-as Mos Def (Yasiin Bey) is back to the mic and will be debuting all new material in a live webcast today, January 17th at 5:30pm EST., from an undisclosed location in Africa.

The event is presented by a new arts collective he’s involved in called A Country Called Earth and is the first live streaming episode in the series, “The Time is Always Now.” Today’s show will be in honor of the birth date of the great Mohammad Ali.

It’ll be interesting, while I’ve wavered on Mos Def’s/Yasiin Bey’s latest musical stylings over the last decade, he’s still garnered enough respect that his work should always be in the least worth checking out.

OkayPlayer.com and OkayAfrica.com will be hosting the live streaming so check it out there for sure.

Get Down, Good Vibes

OkayAfrica drops another Africa in Your Earbuds mix, this time created by South African “punk-dub ensemble” BLK JKS.

“For Africa In Your Earbuds #20 guitarist Mpumi Mcata crafts a mix as eclectic and uncompromising as BLK JKS’ sound — with tunes ranging from a deep-bass remix of Marvin Gaye to cuts from SinkaneDJ Mujava and Talking Heads.”
