Writer Highlight- Sigh

For this installment we bring you the southern gentleman, Sigh. It’s funny cuz I came into his work knowing nothing about him and just randomly stumbled upon a piece of his while on a 3 hour stop through Richmond. Then I started seeing him more and more up on freights and realized I’d seen him before. Apparently some haters call him a biter but style is style and what writer didn’t come up copying others until it became their own? Nothing new under the sun. Sigh colors outside the lines and got style and puts in work. Done.

Writer Highlight- Peeta

3-D graffiti, you think Delta, Daim, Loomit, and…Peeta. Writing for almost 20 years, he’s broken out of Italy and spread his pigment worldwide, linking up with crews like FX and RWK (Robots Will Kill) while still holding down original crew EAD from Padova. When not vandalizing concrete and brick he’s hitting up canvas and making sculptures which all help to hone his craft. As he says, “Sculpting and painting, but also the photography are, in my opinion, disciplines who helps each other. Everytime i make a sculpture i receive a lot of knowledge about 3D space and shapes, that helps me to paint in a better way. And while i’m painting i develop new ideas for new sculptures. It’s a kind of circle.”

The Owl Eyes of Brooks Golden Get Some Shine

Brooks Golden, painted an owl on the 16 Street wall beneath the railroad tracks near Paulina. Chicago Alderman Danny Solis, is stepping up a campaign to use public art to combat crime and graffiti. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 | Scott Stewart~Sun Times

Great to see the Sun-Times give some space to a great artist, Brooks Golden, and a great idea by Ald. Danny Solis. I know, it’s crazy to think public art would contribute to a higher quality of life. I use to chill with Brooks during high school and he was always pushing creativity and positivity and going for yours. The man deserves his props.
